AURORA
Aurora Aksnes, known mononymously as AURORA, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She was born in Stavanger, Norway on June 15, 1996, and grew up in Os, a town close to Bergen. She discovered her talent in music when she found her parents' old electric piano in her attic at age 9. Her mother convinced her to perform, saying that her music could help people. Aurora released her first single "Puppet" in December 2012. She gained traction especially after her covering "Half the World Away" for a John Lewis holidays commercial and after her song "Runaway" which pop star Katy Perry tweeted as being "new music that makes my heart a flutter" when she saw her perform in Los Angeles. She released her debut album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend on March 11, 2016.
Her major source of inspiration comes from nature. She is also inspired by fantasy and the magical, loving to read and watch fiction. It is then not a surprise that she is a huge fan of the Harry Potter and Star Wars universes. Reflected in her works, Aurora values peace, openness, and the serene.
